DIY Wedding Makeup....Why this could be a bad idea

Do any of the following sound like you?

If you're getting married underwater , or skydiving, then don't bother... But for the rest of you, how many times do you plan on getting married? This is why you should wear makeup (and get your hair done). It's a special occasion! ONCE in a lifetime occasion. Hire a professional because remember: even the naturally beautiful face will look better in photos with properly applied makeup.

You Know How To Do Your Own Makeup, You'll Just Do It Yourself...

You've never had a "bad makeup day"? Do you really want to risk this happening on your wedding day? Do you want to add stress to the most important/special day of your life, by worrying about doing your own makeup? Even makeup artists don't always do their own makeup when they get married. Most artists will even come to you, so you can all get ready together. Also consider

· If you do it yourself, will it last all day?

· Will it look good on camera?

You Don't Trust Makeup Artists - They Over Do It; They Don't Know Your Style; They Don't Listen...

I can't argue with your experiences. It sounds like you haven't found the right person. Rule #1 is you need to find someone who is compatible with your personality. Because makeup is very personal, and you need to feel comfortable and confident with who you hire. If you've had your makeup done at a retail counter, it may not have been by a trained makeup artist, or one specializing in bridal makeup. You can get a good idea of who would suit your style and listen to your ideas, by looking for makeup artists specializing in weddings, viewing portfolios and images of their work and by how they respond and communicate with you when you contact them. And, always, always do a makeup trial run-through before your wedding!

Aleksandra contacted me and wanted me to do her makeup for a canyon photo shoot she had. It was fun meeting her family. They came to Utah from Serbia and they love it hear and I don't blame them after her telling me they left Serbia because of war and then they moved to Bosnia only to leave again because of war.

Her younger sister was great and watched me doing her makeup the whole time, she even drew a picture of me doing her sisters makeup. :)

I enjoy watching the brides interact with others on their wedding day and watching Erin with her mom made me chuckle a bit.

Erin got married at the end of July at La Caille. The venue is great but what I really loved was the Brides Room so I have added some pictures I took with my phone to this post. I guess LaCaille is for sale so if you want to buy it, it's only 20 million!

Another June bride, Susan, found me on the thebridgeandgroom.com. She is a great person and so nice and kind. It was a pleasure doing makeup for her bridals and wedding day and waxing her brows. She got married in a beautiful reception place I wish I could remember the name. It was somewhere on Highland Drive. It had a huge staircase that she had to walk down for the wedding. I was glad it was her and not me!

While in the middle most think it is going to be dark but I assure them that it will look great in their photos, and it does. Wendy was no different I am so glad she liked the outcome. Haley's Wedding

Haley loves to ride horses and so when she got married she did it out on the field where she rides her horse. It was a beautiful place and you would never think that would find this huge green grassy field set back off of State Street in Sandy.

Seriously when I pulled off of state street passed through the gate not even a quarter of a block away I entered into a peaceful, serene, green estate.

I then entered into the home of the lady who gives Haley riding lessons and the home was wonderful. So open and bright. It felt like you were in a log cabin up on a mountain top.

Haley and her bridesmaids were so fun they all gathered around while I did Haley's makeup and then I did all 3 of the bridesmaids as well. Such beautiful women. They shared a bottle of champagne and laughed and talked about the recent bachelorette party they had.

Thanks ladies for letting me do your makeup and share in such a great day!

I met Lindsay at the LaCaille bridal show back in January. She was so fun to work with and such a wonderful girl, so sweet and nice. Thanks so much for letting me do your makeup your were great and what a beautiful bride you are!

The shot below is onsite at The Cantebury Place in Bountiful where they got married. It was a gorgeous place, but the lighting was not the best in the bride room for doing makeup but we managed. I also learned to take my tall chair with me after this appointment. I ended up kneeling the whole time cause there were only regular height chairs in the room.

Wedding Prep & Why to hire a Makeup Professional

Here is a few things you can do to look your best before the big day.

Schedule facial treatments at least 2 weeks prior to your big day (facials can cause some breakouts especially on those who don't do them often.)
Schedule all your facial waxing done at least 5-7 days prior to wedding day
Don't drink any alcohol the morning of the wedding (it will cause redness in the face which no concealer will hide, try to avoid alcohol a couple days before as well as it dries out the skin)
Increase your water intake to half your weight in ounces, every day, for clearer, non-puffy face
Relax and enjoy every moment...it will be over sooner than you think....and remember, things will go wrong...so just expect something to go wrong...and you won't get too upset.
